Mumbai, India – January 22, 2026 – Tata Motors, India’s leading automotive manufacturer, today announced the launch of the highly anticipated 2026 Tata Punch facelift. Building on the immense success of its predecessor, the new Punch is back in a bolder, more premium, and significantly more powerful avatar, setting a new benchmark in the compact SUV segment. The updated model addresses customer feedback with a host of design, technology, and performance enhancements, making it a clear upgrade over the outgoing model.

A Striking New Design Language
The 2026 Tata Punch adopts a sharper and more contemporary design language, inspired by the recently launched Punch EV. The front fascia has been completely redesigned, featuring a new split headlamp setup with sleek, vertically stacked LED headlights and signature LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) that give it a more futuristic appeal. A redesigned bumper with a more prominent silver skid plate adds to its rugged SUV stance. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps provide a sense of width and a premium touch.
Premium and Tech-Loaded Interior
Step inside, and the changes are even more pronounced. The cabin has been upgraded with a modern dashboard layout and premium materials. Taking center stage is a new, larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, replacing the smaller unit in the previous model. The driver is greeted by a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and a fully digital 7-inch instrument cluster. Additional features that enhance comfort and convenience include a wireless phone charger, an air purifier, a voice-assisted electric sunroof, and extended under-thigh support for rear passengers.

Power-Packed Performance
Addressing the need for more performance, the 2026 Tata Punch now comes with a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers an impressive 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This is a significant step up from the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which continues to be on offer.
Furthermore, in a segment-first move, the popular iCNG variant is now available with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), offering the perfect blend of convenience and fuel efficiency. The innovative twin-cylinder CNG technology is retained, ensuring no compromise on boot space.
“The Tata Punch has been a game-changer in the Indian market, and with the 2026 facelift, we are raising the bar even higher,” said a Tata Motors spokesperson. “We have listened to our customers and have incorporated significant upgrades in design, technology, and most importantly, performance with the new turbo engine. The 2026 Punch is now a more complete and compelling package for the modern Indian family.”
